Trailblazers: 3years -4years old

"Trailblazers" are our preschoolers. During this age the older toddlers will experience huge thinking, learning, social, and emotional changes that will help them to explore their new world, and make sense of it. During this stage, toddlers should also be able to follow two-three-step directions, sort objects by shape and color, imitate the actions of adults and playmates, and express a wide range of emotions.

We encourage them to work independently, observe others, explore freely, and express their curiosity and creativity. We foster toilet awareness and independence in maintaining personal hygiene (such as learning how to wipe one’s nose and wash hands independently). Children learn more quickly and effectively through hands-on experiences and practices. The more children integrate what they touch and feel with what they hear and see, the more likely they are to learn.

We do and encourage the following...

Story time

Encourage child to take part in pretend play

Play parade or follow the leader

Encourage child to tell his/her name and age

Teach simple songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider, and other childhood nursery rhymes

Give child attention and praise when he/she follows instructions and shows positive behavior and we limit attention for defiant behavior like tantrums. We will teach the child acceptable ways to show that he/she is upset

At preschool age, he/she will start gaining and/or doing the following skills.

Write/trace his/her name

Knows/start learning parent's phone numbers

Learning home street address

Advanced counting

Start to identify letters and their sounds and numbers
